He was one of my most beloved friends and a true mentor, in film and in life. I loved Jim.

  2. It is a waste of time trying to have a conversation about world events on a propaganda outlet. Back when Twitter was masquerading as a “public forum,” it was a venue for the free exchange of ideas. Now that it’s the in-house organ for America’s one-party system, why bother?

Morgan Freeman is an absolute gentleman and one of our finest actors ever. I’ve worked with Bill Hurt a few times. He’s a unique talent. He can do more with silence than any actor I know. Both a true pleasure to work with. And an honor.

If you haven’t seen THE DIG yet, please find time to watch it. It is a powerful true story with superb acting and direction. If you’re a member of the Academy, you should consider voting for it. It’s the best picture of the year.

Yes, my dear friend, Ann Biderman, created RAY DONOVAN and asked if I would play a character based on Whitey Bulger. It was the first time I ever took a role that hadn’t been written yet. She’s such a great writer, however, I completely trusted her. I wasn’t disappointed!

In November 2019 we were invited to JPL to see the . And now it’s minutes away from its historic mission. What a tribute to the remarkable men and women dedicated to this truly miraculous endeavor. American ingenuity at its pinnacle!

You have seriously brought tears to my eyes. That I could have played even the smallest part in your recovery is a gift from God. I am so humbled and proud. The real miracle, of course, is AA and its quiet, powerful contribution to the world. Thank you for your very kind words.

It was a labor of love. We were dedicated to a historical accuracy of the highest order. Because the responsibility to recovering alcoholics was so profoundly important, every crew and cast member felt it was more a mission than a job. Jim and I were so proud of our colleagues.

I loved doing the interview with Brennen Matthews, editor of ROUTE Magazine. It was the most authentic I’ve ever done, as free-wheeling as a lazy trip down the Mother Road, Route 66. Americana, movies, tall tales, and a pinch of truth. Subscribe here:

  16. Jim Garner was my best friend in the business. That Rockford Files episode, The Kirkoff Case, was the first of the series. We went on to do Promise and My Name is Bill W. My first two Emmy Awards were because of his faith in me. I miss him terribly.
