I feel enormous sympathy for David regarding the attacks against him and his family, and have told him so directly. But this line of defense, that any imposition on public school curricula is against "free speech," is utterly preposterous.

Hard to understand. However, Chris himself seems to us an odd word in this context: imposition. Is he under the impression that there is a natural school curriculum untouched by human hands and which precedes anti-CRT legislation? I'd guess Chris doesn't, but what abt David?
