The problem is that this puts the onus on parents to file a federal civil rights lawsuit; anti-CRT legislation puts the onus on the public schools and gives parents a lot of leverage (can appeal to the law, report to state attorneys general, etc.).

@kimmiehermann is filing the lawsuit referenced above, which is very important. But the strategy has to be lawsuits plus legislation plus executive enforcement. We have three branches of government—if there is a public policy problem, we must use them all. -
The problem w lawsuits as the only enforcement mechanism is clear when you compare the string of favorable decisions smacking down universities for anti-free speech policies w # of universities that nevertheless continue to implement them.Fear of occasional lawsuit is not enough.

Gay marriage (BTW good thing) battle at the Supreme Court level wasn't a self-motivated, self-funded gay couple fighting a battle. It was a non-profit funded by Rob Reiner hand picking a media/law-friendly couple to use as puppets to take the issue to the Court
