My takeaway: @bariweiss is using her substack to host highly compelling discussions. Next time I’d love to hear the voice of an actual CRT advocate. @realchrisrufo is a highly skilled debater. By 60 minutes in, it’s over. When they get into legal questions, @DavidAFrench has won.https://twitter.com/thomaschattwill/status/1399072943288815618 …

Hey didn’t work for a creationist “think tank”? Why the hell should we care what you think.

I didn't understand his argument. If the First Amendment already protects students from compelled speech, then how is a state bill that says the same thing unconstitutional? He says the bills go further but he didn't really give any examples.

The question isn't a legal-technical question, which David concedes can be overcome with a grounding on compelled speech, but whether states should prohibit public schools from promoting race essentialism, collective guilt, and racial superiority theory.

I really think the K12 conversation needs to be separate from higher ed and grant making. I'd like to hear a pro CRT voice too.

Here’s
@IanVRowe and Chanelle Wilson discussing CRT. Chanelle would fit the description of pro CRT. https://www.c-span.org/video/?511868-3/washington-journal-chanelle-wilson-ian-rowe-discuss-critical-race-theory-school-curriculum … - Show replies

Eh, it was like - these bills are unconstitutional - no they're not - but Rhode Island - that didn't go anywhere - well Idaho is OK - agreed - but this other one is unconstitutional - no its not, you can teach about it, just not that it's truth or force speech - disagree. End
