Banning things only increases their importance and attractiveness. Whatever one’s view on the issue, the fact is that in France bans on the headscarf have influenced younger Muslims who otherwise would not have worn the veil to adopt it. Bans on CRT will make it MORE influential.

I think we’re talking somewhat past each other here. Anyway, you know that we overlap in many ways in our impression of these ideas.

Perhaps teaching what CRT is, is ok, mandating it’s use is not. An example may be mandating a type of religion to examine meaning in life. Corollary, abandoning scientific method in hope of better analysis sans evidence.
@sullydish article today exposes flaws in approach perhaps? -

Both points are true. Outlaw something & certain people (usually outlaws) want to do it more. Legalize something & certain people (usually not outlaws) think it’s ok & do it. Either way you enhance the thing in some way. Both good points but neither dispositive on any issue.

Kinda like creationism or flat earth stuff. If someone wants to preach it on their own time fine. Not on taxpayer dime though.

It’s funny how this just became an issue when DEI consultants came up with idiotic activities for people with no historical understanding. CRT tenets and “fugitive” pedagogical practice have been sources of strength for many Black people who follow opportunities to raise up.

Difference between talking about these ideas in schools as one of many world views, or talking about it as fact, where you are branded a horrible person if you don’t buy into the framing. Many don’t trust schools to present it in a way that allows for discussion or dissent.

The idea of eliminating CRT from institutions as a "ban" is probably the wrong framing for this issue. The 14th Amendment is arguably a "ban" but no one would argue that its effect was to make the things it sought to eliminate more important and attractive.
