Public schools are not a "marketplace of ideas"; they are a state-run monopoly with the power to compel children. Legislators have a duty to protect a child's right to conscience and right to be treated equally under law. Neoracist theories have no place in public education.

(This is true, because our public does indeed value racial equality and reject state-sanctioned racism. But the state’s duty to reject the latter isn’t rooted in a directive to mirror public values. The state shouldn’t sanction racism even if the public does value it.)

Whenever I hear “Critical race theorists” I immediately am reminded of “ancient alien astronauts theorists” for some reason. Maybe it’s because they are both so funny and outlandish

Yea I'm a big fan of TCW and am basically a free-speech fundamentalist, but institutions and associations need to be given the ability to create rules and standards for how they operate WITHIN their own remit.

It was right for the State to intervene in the "marketplace of commerce" in the 60s to end segregation, and it's right for it to intervene to prevent the compelling of ideas within public schools (...not sure what the implications on private schools should be)

If only there was some local board or group that oversaw schools with leaders elected to reflect the values of their own communities....

Critical Race Theory, as is social justice generally, is a religion and should be treated as when evaluating government involvement.
