Chris, rest assured I know that speech is not literally being “banned” by these laws.

Yes, agree, thanks for the clarification. The bills prohibit compelled speech, not free speech; they also restrict curricular speech, which SCOTUS has ruled does not restrict free speech.

SCOTUS has ruled that restricting curriculums does not NECESSARILY restrict free speech. The bills unquestionably and purposefully inhibit teaching of a politically inconvenient but valid scholarly theory. They are suppression of free speech, carefully disguised at best.
