The subheader of the piece reads: "Some states are trying to ban curriculums that acknowledge this country's history of racism." This is a flat-out lie; none of the bills do this.
More accurate: "Some states are trying to prohibit government institutions from compelling individual citizens to believe in race essentialism, collective guilt, and racial discrimination." They don’t prohibit teaching about racism, either. They prohibit teaching racism. People pretend not to be able to tell the difference in hopes of others following suit.
