CT is, originally, a post-Marxist approach. Yes, it very much is influenced by Marxism, hence the name, but the epistemology is quite different. Contemporary CT -e.g. CSJ- is more postmodern the post-Marxist; though being a metanarrative it's distinct from postmodernism, too.

I think Rufo's point is to say the dynamics have a *lot* in common with how Marxism played out the first time, on an economic-class basis, and to warn people to that. We see struggle sessions, we see pretty-sounding rhetoric about equality being used to justify grave ills, etc.
