I'm a liberal progressive and I think CRT is Marxism in which race is swapped out for class. Bell and Crenshaw were postmodernists, not liberals.

Kendi says explicitly that you can't be antiracist without being anticapitalist. The original critical theorists like Marcuse (and his student Angela Davis) were avowed Marxists. The goals are the same, the methods are different.

I find a lot of Marxists are among the more resistant to wokeness and adamant in defense of both free expression and the traditional norms and structures of the university.

Maybe it should be considered bait and switch Marxism. In a time of populist anger, real Marxism is a nightmare for the elites. Substitute CRT and leaders can say they are doing good while the anger is channelled from elites to all white people.
