The Supreme Court had been clear: the government does not have First Amendment rights; limits on curricular speech do not violate free speech, and the Fourteenth Amendment constrains the First Amendment within public institutions. K-12 curricula are in the domain of politics.
Right now, blue states are mandating CRT in K-12 curricula; red states should respond by mandating a curriculum that reflects their values. Otherwise, the right is simply unilaterally disarming and allowing the left to impose its politics on all K-12 students.
This is exactly right. And even if several red states limit CRT in schools, it will be a drop in the bucket compared to the wave of CRT overtaking schools, universities, culture & workplaces in the most populous & influential parts of the country.
We have to fight back and these states are trying to do something about it.
Personal example: My hometown now has a CRT-friendly high school social studies curriculum. If you drive more than 20 miles from us in any direction, you are not going to see that same curriculum in schools because those other districts don't want it. That's how it should work.
