I'm against states limiting what local school districts can teach, even if it's critical race theory. These bills are antithetical to maximizing freedom and democracy. The public school curriculum is determined by the state and, thus, legislators have an obligation to design a curriculum that reflects the values of their constituents. Schools shouldn't be teaching a KKK or a CRT curriculum, both of which these bills would prohibit.

The Supreme Court had been clear: the government does not have First Amendment rights; limits on curricular speech do not violate free speech, and the Fourteenth Amendment constrains the First Amendment within public institutions. K-12 curricula are in the domain of politics.
