The presenters claimed that America is a "system of oppression" based on the "invasion" of "white male settlers" and "exists as long as settlers are living on appropriated land." The language in the presentation is pure Marxist conflict theory—oppressor-oppressed, praxis, synthesis. Pacheco acknowledged that the Marxist underpinnings "scare people away," but insisted that teachers must be "grounded in the correct politics to educate students."pic.twitter.com/2gUUruIIaM

This curriculum will soon become commonplace for millions of California schoolchildren. The hard work and sacrifice of white woman invaders is being undervalued here.
Oh gosh, I had to read that Pedagogy of the Oppressed book in my teaching credential program 15 years ago! Even as a doe-eyed teacher, I quickly discovered how vehemently I disagreed with what was being pushed in that book.
