Yes, but the point I believe Sam was making is that Trump is far too broken and compromised a steward of the pushback. This is all counterfactual reasoning, but my worry is that it would be far worse right now had Trump been reelected.

The "resistance" is in power and leaning into the bad ideas, irrationalism, and moral panicking. It's easier to see the emperor unclothed. Trump creates so much noise, even his defensible wins (like CRT pushback) had a pyrrhic component.

My point is that neither of us know the counterfactual case: How insane would all this be during Trump's second term? Yes, he would have banned it for the federal government. But Wokistan would probably have grown far more energized in opposition to him (or so I imagine).
