This doesn’t even touch on the worst thing about the suburbs, which is that they are atomizing and lonely and discourage human interaction outside of your immediate household.

I used to have this exact opinion. Then we moved to a small town a year ago and our social life is so much richer and better connected than in the city, even amidst a pandemic. The "atomized suburb" is a myth!

I think it's a function of kids and economics. Once we had our second child, the city economics started to get too crunched.
