I've spent quite a bit of time in Nigeria with the country's elites and quite a bit of time on Ivy League campuses. The most talented 30,000 Nigerians would blow away the American prep-school legacy candidates any day of the week.

...and the amazing Nigerians are NOT woke!
Being woke is a luxury. Even affluent Nigerians are hustling to build out a modern nation—roads, infrastructure, refrigeration, electricity, telecoms, food production. The richest man in the country, worth $13.5 billion, owns concrete factories. They aren't doing gender studies.

in some ways it is. not everyone has the privilege of self and societal reflection. not to mention these countries already lean towards social conservatism. it's a sad state cause I advocate for the opposite but lack of opportunity/wealth tends to breed divisive resentment
