You mean you want to support Betsy Devos’ plan to publicly subsidize private religious schools

Right now we are creating public religious schools, just not in the way you think.

I was on the left for many years. To prevent non-progressive parents from imparting values to their kids is precisely the *goal*. Though they'd phrase it as "prevent parents from indoctrinating their kids."

Here’s where you’re running into a problem, per my experience with parents on Nextdoor: nobody knows what “anti racism” actually is. They just think it’s old school racial sensitivity training by a new name. And why would you be against that? You must be *pro* racism

they're already controlled at the local level. this isn't to decentralize education, it's to privatize it.

Ooof. I was with you, but this sounds very sus. I think it’s better to fight it as it’s a weak ideology that falls apart when exposed.

Public Ed is already decentralized. If you want people to have a say in the curriculum at their local school, tell them to contact the school board! Public schools are accountable to their communities.

It’s interesting that you say public schools are a foothold for indoctrination, when private/charter schools could indoctrinate much more readily. (And do.) Without an elected school board, there is zero accountability in privatized schools. Think about it!
