This is similar to another experience I've had You can rent an entire theater for up to 20 people in Seattle for $100 But for an extra $100, you can get popcorn / drinks Which is expensive popcorn Until you realize that there are no mask requirements if you're eating

The absolutely brutal truth is that you can buy your way out of the COVID restrictions We are barely even subtle about it The poors are subject to one set of rules but if you have enough money, we just happily abandon those rules

Many private schools in my area have been back in person this whole time My 2nd grade daughter (hopefully) goes back to school 2 days week starting next Friday If you can afford it, COVID restrictions simply don't impact you

Our oldest has been in school since the August start. We had the option to pay for the opt-out; the poorest kids have lost an entire year of education. The public school districts can have "equity seminars" until they turn blue, but they are actively harming poor kids.

Every kids should have the opportunity to opt-out of the public school system. Provide that $15k per student directly to families so they can find an education that matches their values and needs.
