I'm going to re-up this now that I'm not on a plane and can doa thread about more of Marcuse's ~wacky~ ideas in the essay, "Essay on Liberation" (1969). https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/marcuse/works/1969/essay-liberation.htm …https://twitter.com/ConceptualJames/status/1370779460933459979 …

On @Timcast last night, Ian asked me if the Critical Race Theory element is a deliberate (neo)-Marxist plot. Here's Neo-Marxist Herbert Marcuse explaining why the answer is yes. This is textbook Hegel too. pic.twitter.com/kO1eAT5yOw

This warning from Marcuse in the notes is pretty spicy given how their whole intentional project in Wokeland is to dissolve what words mean, isn't it? It's almost like they knew what they were attempting to do.pic.twitter.com/H5tENpbMe4

Speaking of the notes and manipulating language to tear down society and also asymmetric rules...pic.twitter.com/jyXgq8wLix

What's going on here? Just Marcuse saying that his revolution depends on weakening the economic stability and social cohesion of society. So, naturally, that's what he wants to see accomplished.pic.twitter.com/ROjk3mo3wQ

Here's something interesting, though. Something Marcuse understood but I don't think anticipated—and our glimmer of a way out of this mess he helped make. Changing labor markets were pushing capitalism into technocracy. MAGA, not socialism, is a revolt against technocracy.pic.twitter.com/HDfZu09npX

He does grasp the risk. The changed nature of the economy and thus its workers suggests to him that something like MAGA might arise, but since he believes fully in Marxian analysis, I deem he underestimated how real a class-conscious, anti-technocratic freedom movement would be.pic.twitter.com/3kd77X54Fd

Socialism, the Great Reset, public-private partnerships, supercapitalism, whatever, are all technocratic and fascistic blends of Marcusian leftism with white-collar corporatism, and MAGA is the class-conscious "proletarian" revolt against it. (The leftists are all wrong, then.)

Marcuse would have been blinded to this reality because of his commitment to Neo-Marxist ideology. Instead, he thinks it can be forced by changing to identity politics, student movements (led by leftist intelligentsia), and copying programs like the Viet Cong strategically.pic.twitter.com/ZrecPHN00M

    9. James Lindsay, first-rate second-class citizen‏ @ConceptualJames Mar 13

Marcuse more or less openly advocates using the black "ghetto population" to achieve his goals through a (white) leftist (student) intelligentsia that doesn't share its values, just its ressentiment. Read that again. *Using them* to break society for people like himself. CRT.pic.twitter.com/Gj2UzSPBnl

    10. James Lindsay, first-rate second-class citizen‏ @ConceptualJames Mar 13

In the black "ghetto population," Marcuse sees an opportunity for educated, white, middle-class leftist malcontents to tear apart society to make way for socialism (reimagined as liberationism), and just presumes that such actions are good for black people who resent things.
