Yes and no, but mostly no. "Western," in the relevant context, means Enlightenment rationalism and the derivatives of English Common Law, with some "Judeo-Christian" and Athenian backbone, which is exactly what the Crits want to dismantle.https://twitter.com/cvaldary/status/1369048143921356803 …

No matter how much conservatives and Critical Race Theorists want to state otherwise, CRT is not "anti-western." It is profoundly western. It is cartesian in its simplicity, gnostic in its mythological structure, & hyper-rational, disembodied a la Descartes.

My sense is that you're both right. CRT is explicitly "anti-Western" and "anti-rational" in its philosophy. But ultimately it is a creation of the West, too, and cannot escape that context. This is one reason why it will eventually collapse under its own contradictions.

As Western cultural masochism, it is both opposed to and defined by/obsessed with Western culture.

Exactly. There have many movements *within the West* that are anti-Western. That's no more paradoxical than a child that hates his parents.

It's western and anti-western at the same time, since this kind of self-hatred has only roots in the cultural west. There are no libraries full of self-critical books in Egypt, India or China. Read The Defeat of the Mind by Finkielkraut or any book by Pascal Bruckner

I suspect that when the history of this era is written, we will find that China has been behind the funding and propagandizing of CRT the whole time. They certainly know how to throw a cultural revolution, and they know the results.

This. It is of the body (west) and against it simultaneously. As such it acts as an autoimmune disorder.

Does anyone has ideas why only the West has developped this sort of ideological self-hatred and cultural masochism? I don't see this in any other countries.
