Living over here, I’d agree wholeheartedly. ‘On time’ is more... flexibly... defined. Lots of stuff gets miraculously figured out at the last minute.
Is that the reason Italians are immune to woke? I visit the country once a year and despite all its problems people still enjoy their culture. Germans and Americans on the other hand don't.

It seems to me that ostentatiously hyphenated identities are one of the reasons Americans suffer from a sense of rootlessness. It would make more sense to call yourself a Californian American than an Italian American.
