Civility is very important for observers who can be persuaded though. Fight hard in politics, but always remain civil in discourse is my view. And, importantly, civility doesn’t mean capitulation.
I'm getting bored with the center-left heroes of cancel culture. The "call for civility" is a weak strategy; better would be for conservatives to form a mutual-protection pact and work to achieve arms-parity with the left, so the "calls for civility" can be enforced.

No. It's going to take legislative curtailment of HR discretion paired with personal liability for apparatchiks who get wound up by their twitter pals and abuse their positions.
