This is part of the big paradox of the Radical Left. Its entire cultural relevance steams from fighting for the underdogs, which ultimately means needing for the underdogs *to remain underdogs* in order to politically preserve itself and cash in from their steady investment.

Attributing that level of deliberate malice to a broad group doesn't help anyone though. One can argue that socialism thrives on an impoverished class and is bad without attaching that goal to people who promote socialist ideas. Show them the idea is wrong not they.
