This is the case in way more schools than people realize. They have abandoned reading, math, and critical thinking for indoctrination and social activism. But what good is teaching Jamal to be a revolutionary if he needs Brad to write his signs?

The absolute irony here is the fact that a decent education was one of the key demands of the Black Panthers as witnessed by their breakfast programme. With a 13% literacy rate upon graduation, these teachers are the betrayers of their legacy not their champions.

The districts average literacy is not reflective of this curriculum that was probably started in the last 3-5 years. Probably has more to do with 15 years of No Child left Behind act defunding inner city schools.
