You can’t reason people out of believing in conspiracy theories. The best you can do is listen to them. And if you reduce their loneliness by listening, they may feel less need to find companionship in online echo chambers.

No not "quite true". Nearly everyone is rational within their capability to be rational, which has its limits for all of us. All of us can be written off by others as "can't be reasoned with", and that's a major component of how we end up with echo chambers.
