It's amazing that every defense of Will I've seen begins with: "I really think Will is a terrible person and I don't like him at all, but..." I don't know the guy, but he sure seems to have made a lot of enemies.
I don't have any opinions on Will's personal qualities! I barely know the guy. I think critics of "social justice ideology" tend to strongly disagree with him because he's dismissive of that ideology's ill effects.
I find his brand of calling wokeism + free markets a type of libertarianism particularly grating. Like his line of "cancel culture isn't real but even if it were it would be good because it's actually supported by this libertarian value" is both bad and dumb.
Like that's not even an exaggeration. I'm pretty certain I've seen him make a supposedly "libertarian" argument for hate speech laws.
Oh my! I understand now. He's one of those rare breeds who mischaracterizes and then attacks *his own people.* He probably thinks he's quite a smarty-pants!
