That's good! But my point is that making Republicans fear that they're the imminent target of political persecution by the institutions of American society pumps them full of fear, and causes them to cast around for a protector...and who do they settle on? Trump!
Yes, but you are conflating two separate phenomena. The fear of political suppression is real and justified. At the same time, the solution, we might agree, is not Trump (and definitely not insurrection).
But you have to understand the effect that fearmongering has. There's a time and a place for worrying about the things you're worrying about...and it's just not now!
