Five years ago, the media launched a campaign to define conservatives as "racists and white supremacists." Five days ago, they changed the terms to "seditionists and domestic terrorists." The first is to dehumanize the opposition; the second is to justify their repression.

I rarely disagree with you, but I will here. These are people who wanted to overturn a democratic election; and Trump wanted them to as well and has pressed for that for two months. That isn't changed because Trump is so delusional he thinks he actually won the election.
We agree actually. Trump, Lin Wood, and others constructed a false narrative about the stolen election and their mob violently attacked the Capitol. It's horrific political violence, but it's not a coup d'état. The QAnon Shaman is not Caesar crossing the Rubicon.

It seems mostly so then : ) I was hoping we could have a major debate. But, yeah, it wasn't a carefully planned coup. And maybe the coup language isn't especially important.
