I freely admit that I'm out of step with a portion of the base that apparently believes it should have a right to spew hate and lies on private platforms they did not build and do not own. I'm completely untroubled by that fact.
It all depends on who controls the definition of "hate." Right now, the people who control that definition believe it means "conservative opinions we think are bad." This is a problem.

I was going to say "50 years ago" but holy crap that's only 1970, but anyway, in the 1950s, it was blacklists, Red Scares, Lavender scares; all of which people seem to unironically want back now that the tables have turned.
