Yesterday: the conservative intelligentsia immediately condemned political violence. All of 2020: the liberal intelligentsia justified, rationalized, and even celebrated political violence—for months.

But look at the media: conservative writers and policymakers immediately condemned violence; CNN, MSNBC, and liberal magazines cheered it on for months. It's a world of difference.
I should add that, in politics, moderating forces have to come from within each faction. The left can't moderate the right, the right can't moderate the left. So it's up to leaders to keep their own people in check. That's why I condemned what happened yesterday.

Yes. What happened yesterday deserves unequivocal condemnation. As does the randomly targeted violence that’s destroyed jobs, livelihoods, businesses, and dreams all over this country.

And when you say all over the country you mean it. I get the sense that liberal media are unaware of the number of cities that fell victim to rioting and looting. So it’s storming of the Capitol vs. Portland, CHAZ, and Minneapolis.
