There are two ways to use this platform— • Twitter as combat: trolling, dunking, and beefing with your enemies • Twitter as community: connecting, learning, and sharing with your friends I've found that first to be fruitless and the second to be limitless.
Like anyone, I'll sometimes fall to the temptation to beef. But I've met incredible people here, expanded my thinking, and built a real community that translates offline. When I see figures like Candace Owens and AOC doing endless cycles of "clap backs," I think: what a waste.

Perfectly delineated. Twitter is a powerful tool for good or ill, and in between.
But the first is so much fun
That is a nice approach, but how do you manage to balance it out with not only following people who think like you?
Some people dismiss this as an "echo-chamber"; I think of it as a "community." And, as a conservative, it's almost impossible to avoid progressive opinion—it's ubiquitous.
I'm thinning out my following list. Going to use Twitter in a new way starting in 2021. No more gas-lighting. No more junk.
It’s all about self management, discipline, and control. Twitter is like food or good alcohol. They can be among the very best things in your life - or if unchecked, can lead to disaster.
You have to admit that some limited amount of the first can be therapeutic if not taken too far, or too seriously.
