The media, political class, and street rioters spent the past year ratcheting up social tensions. They framed the election as a choice: vote for Trump and we keep going; vote for Biden and return to normal. It's a form of extortion, but it worked—voters said "make it stop."

I understand what you mean I’m just highly doubtful that this “extortion” strategy would actually sway many so-called “law & order” voters towards Biden unless they were already convinced that Trump simply wasn’t capable off quelling the unrest.
That's not what I'm saying. It's not the "law and order" voters that were persuaded; it's moderates and swing voters who just wanted the chaos, rioting, and media hysteria to stop. (Trump, of course, has some role, too, in escalating this.)
