The media, political class, and street rioters spent the past year ratcheting up social tensions. They framed the election as a choice: vote for Trump and we keep going; vote for Biden and return to normal. It's a form of extortion, but it worked—voters said "make it stop."
I'm describing a political dynamic, not saying that "Trump is the answer."

I understand what you mean I’m just highly doubtful that this “extortion” strategy would actually sway many so-called “law & order” voters towards Biden unless they were already convinced that Trump simply wasn’t capable off quelling the unrest.

That's not what I'm saying. It's not the "law and order" voters that were persuaded; it's moderates and swing voters who just wanted the chaos, rioting, and media hysteria to stop. (Trump, of course, has some role, too, in escalating this.)

Chris, there’s an important line to toe. You do important work on CRT. But lately your work (I mostly read City Journal) has taken on a more pro-Trump tone. I get that he made an exec order wrt your work. But he’s also corrupt, totally unfit, and lately subverting democracy.

You just said that the media, political class, and rioters were ratcheting up social tensions and then conveniently let Trump off the hook. In failing to implicate Trump in this ‘dynamic,’ you shouldn’t surprised when folks think you’re just interested in carrying water for Trump
