Excellent piece Christopher - but as you quoted the officer saying in the end - the tide of public opinion is behind the activists - how do we fix this?
Unfortunately, it has to get worse before it can get better. Right now, Seattle residents are aligned theoretically with the activists; they will have to experience the consequences of these policies personally in order to understand them politically.
