Agreed. The crux of liberalism is: you do you Bend the norms, break the mold. But our society does seem to have an aversion to notions of traditional masculinity, and it manifests itself in subtle ways.
One thing to remember is that this is corporate-engineered fake-transgression. Record labels, glossy mags, and media conglomerates designed it to provoke outrage to drive a cultural narrative. My advice to people: don't play into it.
I work in the entertainment industry as a Creative Director and can tell you first hand that almost all the “artists” are just performers dressed up by branding companies. Everything is a marketing ploy. Very few real artists.
