It's been a journey for me with this film. When I first made the decision to engage politically, I had old funders refuse to return my calls and old friends refuse to work on the project. The documentary world is hyper-ideological—and I realized that I had to get out.

Two years ago, as I was finishing "America Lost," I wrote my first essay for

I'm grateful for my decade in documentaries. I traveled to more than 70 countries, met incredible people, and directed four films that broadcast on PBS. But after tonight's broadcast, I'm retiring as a feature film director and focusing 100% on my work as a political writer.

P.S. If you can't catch the broadcast tonight, I've made the entire film available for free here:https://americalostfilm.com/premiere

I will watch. The trailer had me in tears. Well done. Stories of poverty need to be told. These lost Americans should be the total focus of the election.

why is this called a conservative film?
-
Because it doesn't address the cause of the illness, but offers imaginary traditional values as a painkiller?
