Conservatives and liberals need to stand against the worst excesses of this stuff, together if possible. But Trump is an outlier. Is he even a conservative? He would be unable to build a coalition and he doesn’t even seem to understand the issue.
Alas, he is the only Republican running for president. He is what we've got for at least four more years. It's a binary choice.
