It's up to sane conservatives/centrists/anti-woke liberals to do that. But Trump makes it an almost impossible task.

They don't have any reach Cathy. The only thing that can flatten the curve is the mainstream media. They can start by reducing the salience of race; clarifying that the police don't actually 'constantly' murder black people; and that disparities ≠ racism.

But they won't. So wokeness is here to stay, whether it's Trump or Biden. Trump at least would offer some short-term institutional resistance. But that's about it.

I think Cathy still has an imp point. From trade to immigration to race and beyond, people run screaming from anything Trump touches. He's an excelerant. With him, no chance of stopping the woke left. With him gone, a small chance of slowing it down.

Anyone paying attention to @realchrisrufo's would realize a White House sympathetic to woke policies being institutionalized in civil service trainings would pretty much complete the project to take over the institutions. Until Biden behaves otherwise, he's their tool.

I think of this as the "let's not win now, so we can keep losing later" strategy. Biden will further institutionalize CRT, Trump will deinstitutionalize it. That's the choice. The "centrist-idealists" have no understanding of how power works.

This is how it works, Damon. Like all insurgency movements, they work on the premise that the majority of people want to be left alone. What that means is that all you have to do is threaten sufficient disruption and you move people into passive support of your movement.

The only bulwark against that is the civil and bureaucratic authorities. When those are internalized into the ideology, there is no bulwark, and the masses shift out of self preservation. That is how power works. Biden will just be the affable seeming vehicle.

Oh gee, that's for explaining power to little ol' me. Here's my alternative: Power is public opinion. Trump is a repulsive ignoramus who discredits good sense every moment he's in office, inspiring millions of Americans to lurch left to get as far away from him as possible.

Damon, power shapes public opinion more than public opinion shapes power. Racial segregation, race essentialism, and rights based on group-identity—three tenets of critical race theory—are deeply unpopular. And yet, CRT has pervaded our institutions.

But please, share your own strategy for protecting people from critical race theory. How would it work? How would you exercise power towards that end?

It’s perhaps not what you have in mind, but you could subvert cultural Marxism with economic Marxism and promote class solidarity to cut across identity politics.

Worst option for fighting it wd be a far-left president. Second worst is Trump. Third worst is Biden resisting it mildly and not actively encouraging it. Best wd be a non-Trump conservative to fight it institutionally while not provoking public opinion to embrace it as DJT does.

No, the worst option is a president that gives the impression of being moderate while his party and therefore his policy is radical. The most dangerous con is the con that deceives. This happened before.pic.twitter.com/nzbU7gFp3C
