      But it is being imposed from the top down. It is an entirely elite worldview and set of cultural practices.

      Agree on the premise, but I think it can ultimately *only* be solved by politics. It is a political creation, funded and perpetuated for the most part by public institutions. Start by cutting this off, watch the incentives change, watch behavior change.
