I've been doing a lot of interviews and have tried to generate *one new idea* in each of them. As a politician, you have to follow the text. As a writer, you have the imagine the new text. I judge an interview successful if I'm surprised by something that comes out of my mouth.

Dangerous however. You can sometimes say things you don't intend or put forward corollaries without breaking down the argument, sometimes detrimentally

True, but an artist has to take risks. Failure is part of the process.

Love the "generate one new idea" point. Trying out new ideas is inherently risky. Like a jazz saxophone player trying a new scale at a live show, the newly improvised riff could misfire --- or could launch a cooking-hot jam session.

Exactly, but I think it's worth the risk!

The good and the great writers know the joy of not knowing what’s about to be written.

What do you know about labor unions as far as CRT goes? Do you think there's a odd pairing between them and the corporate side, since unions have been using identity politics as a recruitment tool for a while now?

Exploration is great, the missteps / bad ideas will be wielded against you. In this case I have good reason to believe you'll get through the fallout.
