Great idea of the @nytimes to link their credibility to someone like @nhannahjones -- a crackpot who completely flakes out when challenged on her bizarre claims.
I'm really not sure why she didn't just stick with the "true founding" argument. It's wrong, but in our broader media landscape, it's defensible. So strange that it just imploded.

When she says there is no objective historical method, she means it. There is only narrative. She and the NYT marinated so much in those assumptions they didn’t expect the blow back from historians who understood how mendacious that premise is.

They were in a bubble and not prepared for the magnitude of the response. I suspect next time this happens the instigators will likely be prepared to accuse all the critics of complicity in the racist program.
