Then we descended into the endless plains of Eastern Montana and North Dakota. We saw cattle ranches, oil fields, and 250-person towns. It's amazing that this harsh landscape can even human sustain life.pic.twitter.com/olUgw8TXYI

Dad stuff is great

How wonderful. Some of my fondest memories with my kids were during 1–on-1 travels like this.
Really roughing it!
Nice, great idea.
Great pix. How much was it? I looked into taking the Empire Builder, but it left Seattle in the middle of the night, to PDX and then Spokane. Not what I expected. Cheers, and thanks for sharing.
Really cheap! We booked the small cabin, total price $650 for both tickets and meals.
My parents did this with my brother and me three times, but we drove and camped in a tent!
