The president is denouncing critical race theory on national television—and elevating this intellectual fight into a major campaign theme. The battle-lines are drawn: we can embrace the principles of 1776 or the principles of 1619.https://www.pscp.tv/w/1BdGYnABdYzJX?q=trump …

The sole underlying issue this election is the survival of the republic as it was founded. Do we want America? Or something else entirely?
-
Something else entirely, namely a functioning, decent nation that isn’t the laughing stock of the Western world.

The reality is his speeches are usually pretty good because they're not actually from him. It's the stuff he says (and does) from his heart that is always a mess.
-
I agree with you that when he goes off and riffs he's not always at his best. But the speeches that are prepared and written for him are also from his heart and his feelings, just a better wording than he might do. Like Reagan, he is very involved in his speech writing/editing.

I agree. I ignored Dear Colleague TIX excesses. But then came identitarian/Crit excesses. I left Dem Party in '15. Wanted moderate Ds to police, but they didn't. Now, CT has ideologically captured whole party. Trump is blunt. But who else was going to wage the political fight?
