Money's being blown, team cohesion damaged, and the whole mess would be a political football no one would touch until after the election. That's a surefire way to make sure nothing gets done about it.

Do you think all these programs have been instantly stopped now? Read Vought's memo. The OMB will issue a detailed directive "shortly." Until then, agencies are directed to "start identifying" problematic stuff. Do you know how bureaucracy works?

Yes I read it, but it will stop a lot more slowly if, instead of starting the process there, they go to hearings (and that's IF the House agrees, which is doubtful). It would be another circus where people would parade before cameras playing the "are you a racist" game.

So you'd rather have faster change for 1.5% of the workforce even if that will make things worse (from the perspective of sensitivity training critics) for much of the rest?

That's what you think will happen. I don't think that's as guaranteed as you do. Even with hearings though, they can't ban it privately. So people can keep doing it privately no matter what comes out of Congress.

I think if he pushed it off because of optics, he would be exactly as contemptible and self-interested as people say he is.

LOL so you think he's doing this because he's sincerely concerned about this issue and not because he thinks it's a good thing to fire up the base?

Not really appreciating the laughter, but yes, as a matter of fact I do. But that question should really go to the person who's led the effort, and that's

Sorry, I'm done here. Not because I'm offended or anything, we just clearly don't exist in the same reality.

I obviously disagree with you on this, Cathy, but I found your piece to be reasoned and substantive. We might not align on this issue, but I'm sure there will be a chance to join together in the future. I'm always open to a dialogue.

Love when people I like can disagree in a civil, polite and reasoned way. Let’s have more of this.
