I think it speaks volumes about America that we are perfectly willing to sacrifice the classroom and our kid's futures but we refuse to close down bars, nightclubs, or God forbid, sports. Honestly, I will never get over this. I will complain bitterly about it my entire life.
Exactly the right sentiment. The problem is that public school teachers want to believe they are in the professional class and should be working from Zoom like lawyers and software engineers. But they are actually part of the service class and simply don't want to accept it.

Worse, public school teachers have been reduced to aspiring govt pensioners who just happen to supervise kids to justify their benefits. This state of affairs is protected jealously by their unions and the Democratic Party whose ed policy they now monopolize.

Once you understand this, the wretched behavior of our public schools, teacher organizations, and Democratic educational politics re: COVID becomes eminently intelligible.
