DN said somewhere that "positive" atheism expresses itself culturally in two forms: "scientism" and "politicism." Clearly in the long run politicism prevails over scientism. Scientism is held in theory but is at the service of unchecked political passion.

Politicism determines ends, scientism determines means. The facts serve the (often unstated) value in this way.
