BREAKING: Seattle City Council moves to abolish the entire Seattle Police Department and replace it with a "civilian led Department of Community Safety & Violence Prevention." In the proposed legislation, the council argues that the Seattle Police Department "[perpetuates] racism and violence" and upholds "white supremacy culture."pic.twitter.com/fYuHtyYWTG

The council endorses the "Decriminalize Seattle" agenda that would replace the police force with: –"Culturally-relevant expertise rooted in community connections" –"Housing, food security, and other basic needs" –"Trauma-informed, gender-affirming, anti-racist praxis"pic.twitter.com/shtCgAIQTl

And finally, the plan demands that the City conduct an "immediate transfer of underutilized public land for BIPOC community ownership"—in essence, the redistribution of land, which is a hallmark of Marxist regimes.pic.twitter.com/9ENdRhFLWD

This is madness. If Seattle moves forward with its plan to abolish the police and permanently close the region's largest jail, it will lead to the immediate collapse of public order. But for now, the political class is following the mob. Beware.

P.P.S. Some are claiming that the documents do not say "abolish the police." Nonsense. Beginning in 2021, they want to eliminate the department (i.e., abolish it) and replace it with community-led nonprofits and a new "Department of Community Safety & Violence Prevention."

The activist groups that are leading this movement, including Decriminalize Seattle, have explicitly made "police abolition" their goal. This plan paves the way for eliminating SPD and replacing it with an activist-led "Committee of Public Safety"—much like the French Revolution.

That's because the documents do not say "abolish the police" they say "remove certain functions from the Seattle Police Department." The two things are different, but you're claiming "The plan is explicit that starting in 2021, they will eliminate the Seattle Police Department."

Where do the docs say that they want to eliminate SPD? Maybe I've missed it, but I don't see the word "eliminate" in anything that you've posted so far. The closest they come is saying that further cuts to the SPD's budget are contemplated in 2021.

Indeed, the docs say *exactly the opposite* of what you're claiming. For instance, it says that the SPD must maintain sufficient field supervisors, and must "maintain adequate patrol staffing in every district".pic.twitter.com/Kqq679ODs7

Because people are uninformed and/or idiots and/or dishonest. City councils have to agree on the budget every year. So they don't have to say "abolish" or "eliminate" the police dept. To get rid of it they just don't write them into the budget that year.
