So far, the City of Seattle has refused to provide the names of the diversity trainers, the budget for the program, or the video of the session. I'm going to keep pushing—because this is exactly the kind of thought-policing they want to implement everywhere.
As @ConceptualJames and others have shown, the new cultural revolution is being fought via corporate HR, city diversity training, and public school curriculums.
When you find something like this in your community, expose it, criticize it, mock it, and reject it. /End
Some of this material might be actionable under anti-discrimination laws. Certainly a civil suit could be brought for damages (my employer forced me to accept that I’m a racist and I wasn’t allowed to defend myself).
No one was made to attend.
So, the good news is that this was apparently optional, not mandatory. The bad news is that it’s pathological, and diverts public resources from actions that might actually benefit the city’s homeless, low-income and politically marginalized people.
There’s a whole set of discussions to be had about this thread, but I’ll bring up just one right now: I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to demand that employees attend training based on their race...
They have the answer right in that email. The training is for people “who identify as white”. So if every single Person of Color in the USA would identify as white,racism would be solved. The only problem would be that all US citizens would be required to hate themselves.
