Don’t you think leading opponents of PC/cancel culture think of themselves as standing up for unpopular victims, going against influential individuals and institutions, being called nasty names, standing up for a cause that is unpopular in elite sectors of our culture, etc.?
Weinstein, definitely yes, and likely many more of the IDW crowd see themselves this way. But George has more humility and doesn't see himself as some valiant hero of the current drama.

The IDW crowd is quite strange when you think about it. A few years in, seems more like a marketing collective than a coherent worldview. People who became famous for their victimization rather than their prior work.

There’s that, and also a lack of self-awareness. I agree that it’s more in line with Weinstein to like the thread because of what it might seem to imply about himself (heroic) than for George to be offering it for that reason in his own case.
