For the record, I think the illiberal left is the most pressing threat. One important reason for that is that real liberals like @Yascha_Mounk worry too much about the rapidly fading populist right and not enough about the Red Guards' takeover of education (and much else).https://twitter.com/Yascha_Mounk/status/1278706938063314944 …

Just two tweets down from this one, he explicitly calls out cancel culture, no? So it’s not like he’s “hyperventilating” about the dysfunctions of the right and ignoring those of the left.

We’ve had ongoing peaceful protests for a month now. Meanwhile Brazil has a huge outbreak and is lead by a right wing authoritarian who thinks COVID19 is a hoax

A month??? Versus 2 years of Trump, 10 years of Tories, 18 months of Bolsonaro, 6 years of Erdogan? You're worried about a month or protests?

Whereas the populist hard-right is busily consigning literally thousands of people to an early grave through their wilful denial of truth and hard science.

Anarchism has not left or right and that is what you saw in riots and property damages. No anarchist movement has ever governed a country. The populist right with their nationalistic superiority goals is the main threat ( e.g. Brazil, US, Russia with white superiority)
